At Averso Group we like to stay connected with the community and support local businesses and area attractions. If you live in town already, you may know of some of these locations. If you are from out of town, try out our list and experience the authentic feel of the area. Local food, coffee, entertainment and tourism are what we focus on. If you need help with finding lenders, attorneys, inspectors, or any other services for a real estate transaction, ask your agent for recommendations, or give the office a call.

Enjoy these businesses, and tell them "Averso Group Real Estate sent me!"

Another Highlands area establishment run by chef Anthony, another TV star chef! A great place for drinks and dinner.

CRAFT BEER AND GASTROPUBS

Hammerheads
921 Swan Street

Located in the popular Germantown area, Hammerheads draws in a crowd all week long for some of the most unique, flavorful barbeque specialties. Worth the wait!

Four Pegs
1053 Goss Avenue

Chicken waffles, great burgers, and some of the best on tap beers to select. Always a nice atmosphere here and they recently added an upstairs to enjoy, along with the outdoor garden. One of Louisville's original gastropubs, staffed by knowledgeable hipsters at the bar.

Holy Grale
1034 Bardstown Road

Constructed in a former church, complete with choir loft upstairs, soaring ceilings downstairs, a beer garden, and outstanding beers from a variety of brewers. The menu is very refined and focused. In back you will find Grale Haus, underneath their B&B. See our "Coffee" section for their info!

Frankfort Avenue Beer Depot
3204 Frankfort Avenue

This is the place to not miss if you love barbeque. Smokers run almost constantly in the parking lot in front, so be prepared. Best wings anywhere! It is a casual, lively place with less beer than others, but the focus in on the BBQ.

Eiderdown
983 Goss Avenue

Come here for some beautiful beers on the leather-clad beer menu, exposed brick, duck fat popcorn, grilled brussel sprouts, and refined main course selections. The service is great, with outdoor tables in summer, and cozy warm tables in winter. Order a flight and just take a look around.

COFFEE SHOPS

Grale Haus
1001 Baxter Avenue

This is a well-run, clean, bright, modern coffee house that shares a building with their upstairs Bed & Brekkie, so it has its own kitchen too. The coffee menu is visible and posted on the wall at the counter (unlike some shops these days!) so one can always see what is being served today. The head barista rotates different beans from various roasters, so it is a great opportunity to try out beans you may not know of. Your capp or latte comes in a stylish black vessel, complete with a ginger cookie on the side. Comfortable seating options inside or outdoors, including the garden in back.

Sunergos Coffee
2122 South Preston
306 W Woodlawn
231 S 5th Street
1647 Norris Place

Another local, independent coffee business with four locations including a downtown coffee stand-up bar on  5th street. Their beans are all roasted in house, and are also available at local grocers. Woodlawn offers a huge coffee bar space with the main roaster behind glass in the back. Preston is centrally located, near University of Louisville, and pretty much has the "coffee house" aesthetic down. Their newest location in the Highlands has garage doors that open for a relaxing summer breeze experience. Consistent quality here, with a menu on the wall in plain site at all locations. Yay!!!

Heine Brothers
Multiple locations around town

Heine Bros have been around since 1994 and were one of the first local roasters in town. The locations make for a great place to go with your agent and work on transactions and offers! The coffee menu is visible and they know how to present yummy pastries and snacks at the counter so you don't miss anything here. Douglass Loop location has a gas fireplace in the center of the room and is probably the most exciting space to meet.

Highland Coffee
1140 Bardstown Road

HC is a smart place with good coffee drinks and various food items, along with a wall of sideline items, and a pastry case. You won't go hungry while here! It is a comfortable place to unwind, people watch, use the internet, work on an offer with your agent . . . and have a nice Third Wave coffee drink. Parking at the door or nearly, and a wonderful business card stand for finding local services (including Averso Group!)

POPULAR TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

Hillerich and Bradsby Factory
800 West Main Street

This is the famous maker of the Louisville Slugger baseball bat used by all the famous players over the last century plus. You can't miss it, just look for the giant bat leaning against a brick warehouse. Really!

NuLu Market Street District
Market Street area

"NuLu" is a recent creation of renovated and new structures along Louisville's Market street. You can find upscale dining, shopping, cafes, brewpubs, and the "Things to Do Before I Die" wall of dreams written in chaulk.

Filson Historical Society
1310 South Third Street

Located in the majestic Old Louisville neighborhood, the Filson HS is the state's oldest historical society. Take a drive along 3rd and 4th streets to marvel at the brick Victorian homes and then stop in here to learn about the area's history over the past 130 years.

Mercury Ballroom
611 South 4th Street

Here is one of several cool, smaller scale venues in town to see musical performances, including some very famous pop musicians. Everywhere is a good view of the performers on stage, and the room is acoustically balanced and wonderfully lit.
